Clip to ScrapBook
We start testing usually last part of FEB first part of MAR for pass/fail grades 3,5,8 Reading

Math for most of us isn't until Mid-late APR.

We have three grades that have pass to be promoted guidelines (besides
the HS test). 3rd must pass Reading, and 5th grade must pass Reading and Math. Also, starting this year 8th grade must pass R and M to go on.

We start so soon b/c those grades have 3 chances to pass them.

Yes, it is a struggle to get all objectives in especially Math, but I couldn't imagaine trying to test them the last few weeks of school. They are thinking about
summer vacay by then!

Our schools get accountability rankings based on how well our students do on each test. Not just each test, but how each sub-group does: socio-econ, ESL, Special Ed, Hispanics, Blacks, etc...

I think it is good to assess the kids and make sure they are learning what they need to be learning, but not sure the TAKS is doing it in the best interest of the kids. Seems like a lot of politics going on if you ask me, but no one did!

We should find out some time next week how the kids did. Hoping it's good news!
