I am fairly new myself to subbing, however I work mainly in the middle schools. If you are only nineteen, you can try middle schools. Dress extremely professionally. While I am not that young, I look very young for my
age. I am 31 and teachers have mistakened me as a student because i am also short. Try using your young age to your advantage. These kids probably listen to the same music you do and have the same taste in clothes.

A word of caution though. Middle school is hard! You are thrown into a room full of walking, talking, raging hormones. They will push you above and beyond all limits.

You must walk in there and start off very tough. Let the students think of you as mean. I do. If it turns out to be a good class, then I will begin to relax a bit.

I used to give chances. I no longer do. First time they show any disrespect, I remove them. Try to stick with your strong subjects. It is difficult to teach something that you don't know anything about yourself.
