Thank you everyone for your comments. It makes me feel a lot better. I'm still incredibly upset because she told me that I could be fired for this. I'm hoping that this isn't true. This was the direct writing portion
of the test, so unless he stopped to pick up a thesaurus on the way down to the office (which is about 30 feet away from my room), he couldn't have cheated. I understand, however, that there are rules to follow. I understand that I messed up. What I don't understand is how a simple mistake can result in me being fired. If a student messes up, do we kick them out of school? There is
way too much pressure on everyone involved in testing. I understand that her stress levels were very high, but her reaction is not unusual. She's very quick to get angry with people. If we need to talk to her about something, we need to first find out what kind of day she's having. If it's a bad day, we don't dare go near her. This is why I put in for a transfer a few months ago.

For those of you who said that this student's score will now become invalid, does that mean that he receives a score of zero? I'd hate for him to be penalized because of my mistake. Or does it mean that his score doesn't count towards our overall score? Thank you again for all of your posts.
