scoping out a district
By MrsM

You'll probably get better replies than this, but this is where I would start. You can get statistics on the district. Use them to form questions in your mind of what teaching there would be like. Number of students, number
of teachers in elementary, whether it's a district that serves K-6 or K-8 and the higher grades are consolidated with another district, location within the county or proximity to a large city. Check out who the administrators are and check online for news stories about those people. That's an advantage I didn't have when I was looking! If possible, drive out on a weekend or evening and
look at the buildings. It surprised me how much I could infer from looking at the grounds. To get the statistics I first mentioned, check your state's website. In my state it's called a school report card, or something like that. See if you can locate a school website. Click all the links that interest you and see what information they find important to tell the public. This was kind of a ramble, but I hope it helped.
