scoping out a district By MrsM

You'll probably get better replies than this, but this is where I would start. You can get statistics on the district. Use them to form questions in your mind of what teaching there would be like. Number of students, number| of teachers in elementary, whether it's a district that serves K-6 or K-8 and the higher grades are consolidated with another district, location within the county or proximity to a large city. Check out who the administrators are and check online for news stories about those people. That's an advantage I didn't have when I was looking! If possible, drive out on a weekend or evening and | | look at the buildings. It surprised me how much I could infer from looking at the grounds. To get the statistics I first mentioned, check your state's website. In my state it's called a school report card, or something like that. See if you can locate a school website. Click all the links that interest you and see what information they find important to tell the public. This was kind of a ramble, but I hope it helped.
