literature lists

here is a link from my school district. (we have 2 literature lists---neither one is what we MUST use.) one list is a "recommended" at grade level--not quite sure how these get on the list...maybe it says there---another
is the "protected" lit list. these are books that have a direct tie to a grade's curriculum or that the teachers at that grade level made such a stink about that they got to "keep" that book.

for example, The Cay is a 6th grade book since we teach Caribbean in social studies. The Island of Blue Dolphins used to be in 6th, but it was so low/easy it got moved to 5th.

oh--i
just noticed that the protected list is only 4-8th, but the recommended list is for 1-6.
