Clip to ScrapBook
Hey Jen,
I am a first year teacher and I used to have the same questions as you. While I still have several Goosebumps, etc; most of the books in my classroom library are honorary literature books (Caldecott, Newberry, etc). One site I use to determine the levels is: http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/read.jsp just use the Book Wizard and type in the title, and most books will show up. It gives you the level, genre, etc. I don't know if you have thought about where to get books and my best advice is EBAY or Craigslist, if you have a Craigslist in your area. I bought most of mine from EBAY for a relatively cheap price. I would type in "children's books newberry" or something similar and lots of things come up. Hope this helps! Good luck!
