Clip to ScrapBook
I think most of us feel the same - we do not want to teach to the test but have all that pressure. Every Monday for the past 3 weeks we've been given a countdown in our morning e-mail- today it said "14 more school days
until..."The Test"...we are so sick of that! I am just doing what I've been doing...you cannot force all that info down their little throats! And here in NJ the 3rd and 4th grade tests are so early....

A funny (not really!): I was teaching my 4th graders to add and subtract fractions today. I asked them when they thought they'd need to do such a thing...I was hoping someone would
say cooking, sewing, building..the first answer I got was, "For the ASK!" (Our test...the NJASK) I laughed inside, but you can see where they are feeling the pressure, and I try not to talk about "the test".

If you haven't read the book, "Testing Miss Malarkey" by Judy Finchler - do! It's a picture book but really written to us teachers - hysterical and so true!

Well - good luck everyone.....don't leave any children behind, even if they are classified and don't speak a word of English!
