I teach at an ABEKA school. The phonics is awesome. With this program our Kindergartners start reading very well by the end of the year. It does teach blends. It uses a lot of charts and their is a Handbook for reading book. They take phonics test and all goes into their spelling also. My kids went to public school and then switched to private, but my stepson is in public still and I think the ABEKA is by far the best. It may take some time to adjust to it. I personally like it. Good luck with whichever y'all choose.
