North Carolinian too!!
By Rosie24

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in NC too and actually have had the same situation in my room this year. Luckily, my student was able to get into a day treatment program for about 4 months...but is returning this Thursday(2/21). I am hopeful :)
he will have a more successful experience when he returns. Time will tell!!!

I am very sorry you are going through this. It is very hard to reassure the rest of the class they are in a "safe school" when there are unpredictable behaviors of a student in their own class. I have students who were afraid to come to class and had to seek guidance from our school counselor. It is not
fair to the rest of the students that their learning is interrupted because of a student who has needs that can not be met in a regular ed class.

My principal is VERY supportive and does send the child home when he has these violent outbursts.

I belong to NCAE. I do know there is also another teacher professional group that is less expensive...I will ask around at school on Monday and post it then.

What part of NC are you in??

Hang in there!!

TOODLES!!
