I would use a timer for students, but not for the teacher. The teacher shouldnt be cut off teaching by a buzzer. A timer is more suited when you give kids an alloted time to finish an assignment. If you have trouble doing things in a certain time, just make sure you are able to watch the clock and know when you need to end and wrap up.
