Emotional health
By Funnygirl

Clip to ScrapBook
Here's what I think. It's very, very important to keep a balance between home/personal life and teaching.
I get to school at around 7:45 and stay until 5:30 every day. But I don't bring work home. I do a little planning
on Sundays for about a half hour just so I know what my week will be like.
I used to bring work home, but rarely touched it. I realized that, for me, schlepping that bag back and forth wasn't good for my back or my sense of well-being. I always felt like I had a burden that traveled with me. It wasn't emotionally healthy.
Now, I feel like I have a good balance. I do what I
can in the time frame I've allotted for school, and whatever I don't do will still be there the next day. And the world won't fall apart if I don't get to it all right away.
By the way, I've taught in both private and public, and for me, they both require an equal amount of my time and effort.
