teacher too

Clip to ScrapBook
I have been teaching for 7 years now. My first year teaching I got ringworm, sick often and all kinds of things. It takes time for your body to get used to all the new germs and build immunity to the kids.

My second
year teaching I was afraid to take off like you. I went to work with the flu and 102 fever. That Friday night my fever went higher to 105. The flu turned into double pneumonia (both lungs were filled with fluid) I was admitted by ambulance to the ER, and then stopped breathing because my lungs were traumatized and filled with fluid. I was then put on a respirator for 3 weeks after being
revived.

I was then off for 3 months.

IF YOU ARE TOO SICK MEANING WEAK TO DRIVE TO WORK AND FUNCTION AND YOU ARE PUSHING TOO HARD, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT GO TO WORK.

IF YOUR COLLEGUES AND ADMINISTRATORS HOLD THAT AGAINST YOU, THEN F THEM, BECAUSE THEY ARE INHUMANE AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO WORK WITH PEOPLE LIKE THAT ANYHOW AND CAN EASILY GET A TEACHING JOB ELSEWHERE.

But def don't play hookey, so that when you really are burnt out and weak and need a true break, you can use a day without feeling guilty.
