Golfing for Education
By Lodi 3rd

Clip to ScrapBook
Do you have a local golf course? Between our local grocery store and golf course they have an annual Golf Tournament called "golfing for Education" We raise $10,000 or more a year. The entry fee is $150 per golfer, the teachers
work the registration, prep, hole in one contest, etc. The grocery store has their suppliers donate $$, players in teams of 4, and there are tons of prizes that are donated. The hole in one prize has been an Escalade in the past years---on one has won it yet.

For our computer lab we did "Brother can you Spare a Dime" and the kids, parents and teachers walked to the state
capital for donations. This is a 100 mile march. The local assemblyman got us some funding and we received a donation from ATT!! The whole process is documented on the wall of the lab like a giant scrapbook. We have 32 apple imacs, 2 laser printers, internet, lcd projector. In the next year we are going under reconstruction-finally the district is paying attention to our needs-we will be without a computer lab for a year but when all is said and done we will have a new, bigger lab with new computers--that's what they say.

Good luck with your fundraising. ;)
