Great Ideas!
By LindaR

Clip to ScrapBook
Thank you all for your great ideas! I truly want to take "advantage" of this wonderful opportunity to reach out to those who are disadvantaged. After reading some of these posts, I am reminded that I really don't need to
look much further than my own surroundings.

I am definitely going to consider the needy kids here at my own school. Our school "library" is pathetic....

At first, I thought that Scholastic found out that I worked in one of the poorest areas of my District and wanted to provide the books for my school. When I let my students know of the contest, they were all wondering if
they'd get to keep any of the books. One little girl, in particular, is living in a motel because their house burned. She asked me if she could have a book because the three books she had are gone in the fire :(

I'll talk to someone at Scholastic next week and present some of the ideas posted here to make sure that I have the freedom for these various avenues.

Thanks again for all your great ideas and support! I'm still reeling from the excitement of what's ahead. 1000 books---wow!
