a school like you described. I interviewed all over the state. I was asked that question a few times - and it always came from a principal at the same kind of school! I tried to keep my search to the types of schools I wanted, but had to participate in some group interview situations, with several principals. The principals from minority, high-risk schools asked that question. My answer was, "I'm ready for a change." My answer to why do you want to teach for us was, "From my research (I did a TON!), it looks like your school will be a better fit for me and my family."
It made most happy without having to get too specific.
