qualifications for subs

I teach in South Carolina. There is such a shortage of subs that you only need a high school diploma to be a substitute. Getting a certified teacher to sub is very rare in our county. You could check for South Carolina's requirements by going to the South Carolina Department of Education website. They are very good about answering questions by e-mail.
