reading suggestion By Tatum
|
| I think she should be reading books at or slightly above her reading level. She, as well as the others, deserve to make progress in reading. If she is not exposed to higher level literature, she is never going to improve her level. Is there anyone else in the class that she could pair up with and do a "Reader's Workshop" type of thing while you work with the lower level readers? Maybe pair her up with another child from a different classroom....if you all have the same reading time?
You need to do something for her--she deserves your time as well as the others. It's not her fault that she is the only one reading on level. If I were her parents, I would be complaining that she is not reading books on her level. I just wanted to give you my opinion on that...I am not meaning to be harsh. Keep us posted as to what you do.
