Money Enrichment
By tat2

Clip to ScrapBook
I used Pigs Will Be Pigs book...Gist: pigs scrounge the house to go get Mexican Food. I made menus...Distributed paper money and coins...Children had to order from each category...used with a register seta few tables like
a restaurant...had some take orders...make change,etc...Try to be as realistic as possible...restaurant supply places can be helpful...Students loved this... we pretended, but did not use food...a distraction...Benefits: real life experience...reading ,writing, and math...plus my kids have little experience in sit down restaurants...ones that don't have clowns and toys... We had mini lesson
on ettiquette, too.( My pet peeve is going out to eat and having my experience ruined by loud children, running around restaurants.) Don't get me wrong, we had fun but modeled good behavior...quiet voices...public/private behaviors...I was the owner...My staff greeted and seated. We did this over a week and invited the principal to come to our grand opening(observe our skills)
