Our school doesn't have a library. We use the 100 Book Challenge program which originally was only leveled by color. The students knew what color they were in and could get books that they could read. This year, our reading coach split all of the books up and now they are sorted in our classrooms by genre. I have books from a Kindergarten to a fourth grade level in my classroom. For my low guys, I don't think this is the most beneficial. They struggle finding books that they are able to read because they are so far and few between. Plus, they haven't really learned how to figure out which books are good for them yet! Bottom line: I see both sides and think a compromise would be best! :D
