In my district, there are no special requirements as long as it is for a short term assignment (one or two days, etc.). You just have to meet the normal sub requirements. Long term subs are generally chosen because they have consistently performed well in short term assignments. You would need to check with your local school board to be sure. There is a real lack of subs in these areas, so I'm sure you could pick up a lot of jobs if you are interested.
