Talk to your principal

Any principal should understand that if you are looking for a permanent position you will need to leave for interviews. I would think they'd either give you sick days or, depending on the time of the interview, leave early, or take a long lunch. I know our principal does interviews mostly in the afternoon, and they don't usually last more than 45mins to an hour.
