Lag time between lessons
By Barb

Clip to ScrapBook
One of the last instructions for any classroom work should be what to do when you have finished. This includes silent reading at their desks, partner reading, helping (not giving answers) another student who may be having problems with the work, "journaling," finishing old work or projects, but not socializing. Allowing children to socialize encourages hastily completed work and diminishes the importance of that particular task. The socialization of children is an important function of education but should have its own time and place. It should not be offered as a reward.
