Easy Organization
By Danita

Clip to ScrapBook
I have sets of folder pocket notebooks in various colors that I use to put student work into for grading. Each class has a color and each folder is laminated. I use the pockets to hold their work as it is turned into me
and then use large folder (bundle) bands to secure the work. My husband picked up the folders for me several years ago and I love them...I have used this method for a long time, but my newer folders are not the standard solid blue, green, orange, etc; they have very pretty designs and I've put the class period on the cover. Each class knows their color and will tell me when I ask "what
color are you?" I use one folder for tests and one for daily work. You could do the same by subject if you don't have rotating classes. Another thing that I have and use is a hanging file folder crate that is labeled with the days of the month. At the end of the day all that day's work goes into that days folder so if someone is absent or misplaces work they can go to the folder to get it.

Something else that I do is I use 3 inch three ring binders to store my copies of whatever I use with my students. I have a binder for the beginning of the year; another that contains all the materials for North America; one, in fact, for each continent. My curriculum has changed this year so I'm in the process of creating new binders with information over Ancient Civilizations. Another easy and life saving tip is to use yellow highlighter on your orginial copy...it will not show up when you make copies for the kids, but will allow you to see that this copy belongs back in your binder.

One other thing and then I'll close is that I do a notebook with my students...so everything they receive is put in my notebook (a 1 inch binder) with the date it was issued. This helps to keep both the kids and me organized.
