Too Much...

I work in a wealthy district. Last year for the December Recess, I received a $500.00 American Express gift card. I wrote an individual thank you note to each child. Then in the new year, I asked each child to look through
book catalogs and write down five books they would love to add to our classroom library. I spent the money buying as many of those books as I could with the gift card.

When the parents' found out I spent the money on their kids, they were upset. In June they gave me three Spa certificates worth over $700.00 just so I couldn't spend it on the kids. They wrote me a lovely note

wishing me a relaxing Spa session.

I continue to be overwhelmed by their generosity, but also want to find a way to let them know that I do not need to receive gifts like that to enjoy working with their children every day.
