It's a traffic light that starts on green. When the noise levels goes to a certain level, it turns yellow to warn the kids to be quieter. If they get louder, the light turns red and a beeper sounds. When that happens, no one is allowed to talk at all for one minute. If they talk during that minute, they have to sign up to sit at the no talking table the next day. They also have to sign up to sit at the no talking table if they have any other bad behaviors in the lunchroom. It works pretty well for us. We have a large school with a new class coming in or going out of the cafeteria every 2 minutes.
