I have never seen it happen either. A few years ago a co-worker's room mom wanted to take up a collection for a gift her and our principal at the time didn't allow it.

This is the first year that I have received giftcards. I was very surprised! I can't wait to use my Barnes and Noble one... I am sure I will find something fun for the kids, but at least it will be put to good use.
