I'm involved in legal matters similar to your situation. go to (riverfronttimes.com) click the archives section and read the story "the education of Brother Mac". I teach in a very substandard district and area of St. Louis.
They have suspended me because of the article and trumped up charges of improper discipline (the childs mother is outraged because she knows it's not true also). I can't wait to go to court! I joined the union local and got in that office and worked the issues that concerned SUBs. Union membership provides you access to the resources and the legal protection/liabilty insurance
you need for these incompetant encounters. All of my legal expenses are being paid for by my local due to my union membership. It may seem that you are doing your own investigation at times, but don't give up. Use your freedom of speech rights to go befor eyour local school board and tell them what you think. Offer solutions and/or alternatives. Let them know that there is more to you than just someone off the bench to give another player a breather. Sometimetimes you just have to make them know who you are, before they will truly take stock snd notice that should have been afforded you from the git-go. Hang in there and never give up on your commitment to the babies. PEACE
