I really like the idea of giving them individual thank you notes. Out of the 78 sixth graders I teach math to, about 50 of them gave gifts to me.... and over the course of the day/week I wrote notes to them all. I think the kids are lacking the idea of what is appropriate to do and what isn't. However, that being said, if it's hazardous to your health... try printing them our and adding one line of personalization to them? What do you think of that? Then you have less writing...and still give them the idea of a personal thank you....
