Switching By lenarmc

I observed a school where the students switched from grades 2-5. All of the teachers seemed to like it because they didn't have to teach all subjects. One teacher taught one group all of the Language Arts(Reading, Writing, Spelling) while the other teacher taught Math, Science, and Social Studies. They switched after lunch which gave each teacher a 1/2 day with the students.
The 4th grade teachers at my school do it, but no other grade level. It works for them because the Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher doesn't like to teach the Language Arts and vice versa.
I look at it this way. I would love to departmentalize. I would get a break from those students who irritate the life out of me.:D
