I do a fun lesson on adjectives each year; to just give you an idea, I play the song, "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things" (from the Sound of Music cd) to the children; we then list all the adjectives we heard on a big piece of paper. For example: warm, woolen (mittens), crisp (apple strudel), blue, satin (sashes). We talk about how we should use adjectives that are precise and represent all of our senses (not just sight). I bring in a grab bag of various items from around the house and hold each up one at a time while the children call out fitting adjectives (furry, shiny, hard, smooth, fluffy, etc). The kids are really engaged and you could have some of them come up to write on the board or to hold an item from your grab-bag. You could then give them a story to add adjectives to, maybe working with a partner.

    Anyway, just an idea.
