80% accuracy Assessment By Eleanor

The first thing I would do when I write my next ed plan would be to lower the accuracy to 70%. This does not mean lower your standards but 70%is more achievable and relates to the average acceptable range for a goal in the general classroom. The easiest way to asses a goal is to pre/post test. With a goal that relates to the colors give him 8 crayons and a picture ask him to color the grass green the sky blue etc. depending on his academic ability. Re-test before each quarterly progress note and determine the percentage just as you would on a math test with 8 problems etc. It does not make a difference | | what you assess as long as you establish the number of examples(or trials) and base it on a 100%. There is also no need to be elaborate. For example, asking a student to count from one to 100 can be done on paper as a whole group activity and can be repeated each quarter to determine how much progress has been made.Once you establish a base line in Sept. it is easy to report his progress as a percentage as the year goes on as well as determine what needs to be worked on. Keep in mind that pre-test and all post tests should be filed to provide clear evidence to support your progress notes. In essence what you need to do is ask yourself what is the simplest way to quantify this goal in order to provide proof that progress is being made.
