    I agree with pj's example.
    Furthermore, in my opinion, "1 to 1 correspondence" is just about the most impotant prerequisite for any further development in math skills. Commercially prepared materials that focus on matching skills are useful. Also, teacher made counting templates and hands-on activities help to teach this concept, as well as provide instructional modification that may be needed. I've made some to use with my special education students. Will share ideas if interested.
