Many students with Autism have sensory needs...any tactile learning you can incorporate in your lang. arts lessons would be great. SOme may be defensive to some of the things you try, but it will help them to
DoToLearn is a great resource. I'm glad you found it. I use a lot of TEACCH's ideas in my classroom as well. Check with a special ed teacher in your school to see if you can get access to Boardmaker too. Its a computer program that is excellent. Imagine DoToLearn...but only 100 times better! Since communication is one of the biggest barriers to autism, lang. arts will be good for the students. WOrk on oral language, reading sight words/functional signs, concepts about print, etc. For my students, most of them can't read a book..but htey enjoy listening to books on tape...I have a tape player and many books for them to listen to in a listening center. GOod luck!
