Clip to ScrapBook
I enjoyed considering all of the responses to my question. I teach English, Math, Art, Drama, Science to 7th grade, plus another 60 7th and 8th graders Science, plus 2nd/3rd grade Art. I guess it does balance out... but
I never have the luxury of a "free" period when I can just do what I want or have down-time as my schedule is so rigid.

At my school (K-8), everyone from K to 8 gets the same # of prep periods but all K-3 classes are capped at 20. I have 30 students, I write my own IEP's, our spec ed teacher never comes in even when supposed to.

That being said, I really like my
job. It's completely due to the students... they keep me on my toes, keep me challenged and keep me smiling!

My conclusion: it doesn't depend on your grade level, it depends on your job commitment! I guess I am feeling it because our support teachers do so little.
