I felt like I was reading about myself-lots of similarities. Hope you hang in there. It is a whole new world isn't it? Songs and fingerplays have really helped me, too. My group has a tough time with books because of short att. spans and 2 kids with visual impairments. Most of the cute ideas seem way too hard for my kids so I am trying to scale down things so they will buy into the activity and learn from it. Good luck!
