HI I am self-contained LD grades 1 - 4 and here's my daily scheduleall my students are mainstreamed from 8:45 to around 9:20 or so...for calendar, lunch count and openings that they can handle in that mainstreamed classroom. 9:30 story 9:40 warm ups - these include thera-putty, jumping on a jogging tramp, walking a balance beam, counting with a counting chart by 1's, 2's or where ever they may be in their learning, (these jobs are to progess throughout the moring not to be done all at once) practicing their address and phone numbers ect. My aide monitors these activities. from 9:40 to 12:10 | | is my language arts block. During this time I teach reading, spelling, listening skills and creative writing. I use the following programs Reading and creative writing: Project Read and Project Read Framing YOur Thoughts, Dolch Word List Spelling = SRA Mastery Spelling Handwriting = Handwriting Without Tears Listening = Scissors Glue and Concepts, Too Scissors Glue and Grammar, too Scissors Glue and Vocabulary, too. These books are great for developing listening skills as well as following directions. They ususally have a little story and a paper that the kids have to cut and paste to the directions. After lunch we do math groups from 1:10 to 2:40 I use a lot of Touch Math as well as Addison Wesley from 2:55 to 3:40 we do special projects, these range from a unit on dinosaurs to making play dough to doing a monthly calendar to making a special card for someone. These projects are often continuing for a week or two but sometimes are only a day or two. My students all travel out of my room for their daily specials of gym, media center, art, computer lab, spanish and music. They are also mainstreamed for class parties, trips and any special activities in their grade level. Hope this helps you some Email back if you have questions maybe I'll be able to answer them.
