I observed in a 2nd grade class last year and the teacher did a "Polar Express Day" in her class. She had all of her students dress up in the pj's for the day, gave them their "ticket" when they came into class, they drank hot chocolate and she had the book on tape for them to listen to. They also watched the movie.

If you don't have the book on tape, you could go to www.storylineonline.net. They have celebrities read different books on video and Polar Express is one of them.
