Life Skills Resources
By Sixtiesbabe

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi. I teach Life Skills to HS students with moderate to severe disabilities. I found curriculum from Mayer-Johnson to work pretty good.
I also use books by Darlene Mannix, available from Amazon. Sensory integration has been very effective with my students. Your OT can help you with ideas for that.
Here's what our typical day looks like:
1. Opening (flag salute, announcements, calendar)
2. Cook breakfast (everyone has different chores)
3. Work Bins -- one on one learning, specific tasks based on IEPs
4. Leisure time/Free Choice/Social Skills
5. PE or Sensory Integration
6. Lunch
7. Community based learning (a two period block)

I hope this helps you a litte.
