Thank you so very much for taking the time to give me a detailed response. (This is my first year to teach SP. Ed. I taught 5th grade previously) And although my system is practices inclusion there are some students
that come to me strickly for particular subjects. I can handle/adapt most of the curriculum for their needs, but spelling is the one I am finding the hardest. Lately, my student with a low spelling ability has been doing activities that require constant repetition of spelling the words (both computerized and manual) but I was curious as to other methods that might work.
In accepting
the position, I didn't really get to talk with the teacher before me...and am still figuring out how all of these resources are used.
Particularly Explode the Code. Thanks to you, I now know what it is and how it can fit into my reading program. I am interested in hearing more about Project Read, when you have the time.
