Use your local yellow pages! My students wrote to local businesses that they might be interested in working at in the future. This became very real for them and we had a great response. The students received free t-shirts, bags of peanuts, gift certificates to local resturants, and numerous videos about the companies they wrote to. Many of the businesses asked to come and speak to the students so our letter writing became an entire unit on careers.
