I don't have any specific information on ESL, but there is an ESL chatboard on www.teachers.net that you might want to check out. Good luck!! BTW, some teachers on this board work in districts where there are so many certified teachers that they often accept jobs as paraprofessionals. Where I teach we will have many uncertified teachers again this year. It is always better to be fully certified and trained, but sometimes it just isn't possible. If you have an interest in working with this population, go for it. Read everything you can find, network with other teachers, take classes, and be creative. You'll do much better than the warm body they have to put in the classroom if no one better applies.
