    Check out the following Websites:

Last year we combined ideas from these three sites and had a "Literacy Knight". We invited the students dress up as story book characters, princesses, knights, etc. We had a meal with "dragon- roasted hotdogs", potato chips (dragon scales), etc. One of our teachers dressed up as Shrek and read "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs." Then we had parents and their children go to different stations that were adapted from the above websites. A 5th grade class acted out the story "Good Night, Good Knight."" We had some small stuffed dragons from www.starfall.com as door prizes and each family could choose one book to take home. (Teachers donated books from their book club purchases.) The Reading Teachers did a little talk about phonemic awareness, Decoding, and the real reason to read- comprehension.
