After they did the mosaics they wrote poems. Some kids wrote 2 lines and some wrote more. Something like:
"Orange pumpkin shining in the night
You are scary this Halloween night."

The kids enjoyed it. The mosaics are easy. Just draw the pumpkin with pencil or white crayon. Glue pieces around the edge first--that seemed to help kids(The picture is last year's when my kids were second graders. I looped with them this year.) I had a mother helper cut strips of orange paper into pieces and put into baggies. This was easier for kids then having them cut the pieces--the size was more uniform. Tell them to leave a bit of black showing. I have a pumpkin done to show them and then show them how with another one.The kids wrote their poems. I typed them on computer, glued them on, and laminated them. They were displayed in the library and all K-6 students enjoyed them. Hope this helps.
