I completely understand how you feel. But it is our reality and our students' that they must take standardized test. and I am trying to figure out how to deal with test preps and keep RW. Someone had posted a book recommendation Test Talk and this book is giving me hope. I just started the book and I am only in Chapter 2 but already I am beginning to change my thinking of test prep. It is a reality and if we don't help prepare our students for it their lives will be greatly affected by it- Thank you No Child Left Behind.

I would love if we all, especially the grades who have to take the high stakes test, can began to truly think about how we can solve the problem of dealing with test preparation and still have meaningful lesson in our classes.
