Clip to ScrapBook
I currently have an autistic child in my classroom and I am not sure I am going to make it thru the year. She has screaming and kicking outbursts. Even with an aide for part of the day it doesn't help. If they take her out
then she expects to go out of of the room whenever she screams. For this child, once becomes a habit. I have been very structured with her but there are days when I am trying to teach math and most of my students have their ears covered. This is not only distracting to me but also to the other students. This is not fair to them, oh by the way,I also have the other special ed. students
in my room. A total of 5 out of 16 first graders. Great class size but very difficult to handle especially with those children who are average, those who need a little help, and those who could fly with time. I agree that I am also stressed and confused ! I have had no training with special education.
