Parents who stick their heads in the sand....
By J.L.

Clip to ScrapBook
Carolyn,

Oooo!!! Don't parents who say things like "Well, we'll just move the student to another school and that will solve everything!" just make you want to SCREAM!!! At that same meeting I talked about in my first post,
the biological mom said to us that she wanted to start home schooling the child! ACK!!!! I am sure that is where he picks up his behaviors from, contrary to what the parents think. (The parents told me he learned to swear and touch women inapproriatly at school! Hmmm...yeah...okay...I see sooo many students behaving that way at school. Of course he wouldn't learn that at school!)

I

just feel terrible for the poor kids who have parents like this...and thankfully many don't. Everyone, parents and the school, must work cooperativly together to best meet the needs of the students! Nothing can be accomplished unless everyone works for the common good. There are a few parents who need to get out of denial (although I COMPLETLY understand how hard it must be to have a child so profoundly disabled...it would be devestating and very hard to get over. But they need to accept him for him, and start doing the right things!) and start working to help their kids.
