different book?

Sorry no great thoughts on modifying the level of Anne Frank, but how about switching to a different book? My 5th graders (reading at beginning 4th) listened to Number the Stars By Lois Lowery on tape. Great book, similar theme of two girls and their exp. escaping the Nazi soldiers. Lots of possibilities for intergrating into other areas, or it can just be enjoyed as a story. Good luck!
