Re: What's up with appreciation days By Margaret916

I feel ungrateful saying this too -- but at a former school the big thing was flowers. When it was this person's day or that person's day they went on the morning news that the kids produce and got a bouquet of flowers presented by the principal. Same thing after the concerts or special productions. Now -- we did after school activities that we put together as a showcase, like the huge fifth grade museum, but it was annoying that no one recognized that.
We chip in money for these also -- plus for any showers (4 babies and 2 weddings last year) -- and for people in hardship (we had a | | teacher pass away last year, and one have terminal cancer, and one with a surgery on her knee that went badly). So I would much rather support those that are in hardship then chip in for appreciation. I do appreciate them, and so do my kids -- but we're trying to teach that money isn't everything and we're failing miserably at it....
I don't know that sharing a day will go over well -- like a lead balloon at this school here. I think it's a nice idea, but tough to introduce... make sense?
