The Secret Knowledge of Grown Ups

This is the second year I've used The Secret Knowledge of Grown Ups to get kids started in writing. The students love this book and it's outrageous explanations of common rules. We read it and discuss other rules we are told by 'grown ups.' There's a lot of discussion, most of it outlandish - which the kids love. Then I model how to write our own grown up rule and explanation. We use the same format as the book. I don't know if this is what you were looking for but it does get everyone writing.
