    new principal issues...

We have a new principal this year. i really seemed to like her this summer as i was setting up and such but she has since turned cold and said and done some things that make a lot of us question how horrible this year could be.

for instance she has questioned a teacher on the book she chose to read her class which is a totally appropriate book and since the reading series has not started we NEED something to use. she also chastized a teacher for calling her by her first name in the office. and then today one of my students asked if she was going to move a student from my room to another room since we have 2 more students and she asked the child why he would ask such a question and then said to me that she was offended by that and wondered how on earth he came to that conclusion. I said that the parents are talking about the number of students and concluded that they would move them. I said I told them the principal would make that decision. i didnt think that it was a secret. our school has strong parent involvment and it's NORMAL for the parents to have opinions on class size.

This and a few other things are making us wonder how this year will pan out. i am still quite taken back that she is "offended" that a student would ask her a question.

I'm trying not to freak out too much but since I'm also teaching a totally new grade and i'm not totally supported by my team so i feel all alone in trying to figure out how to bring things up to this grade i'm getting really nervous considering i am being evaluated this year.

Any thoughts to help me calm down?
